Born in Gorman, TX 1939, Jerry moved around a lot in his early years due to his fathers job as a salesman. He finally settled in Irving, TX in 1955. He has remained a resident of that city ever since. He fist began song writing at the age of 14, but never really got serious about it until he was about 21 or 22 years old. In 1965 he landed a recording & writing contract with Chart Records & Yonah Publishing respectively. He recorded two singles before recording as a duet on Lynn Andersons first recording ever, "We're Different". He recorded for Chart until 1971 releasing 10 singles, (8 as a solo artist and 2 duets with Lynn Anderson) and one album.

In 1971 he decided to move back to Texas.  He released 2 singles on Janus Records out of Dallas before signing to ABC Records. He was with ABC from 1972 until 1977, releasing 8 singles. In 1980 re recorded and released a Made For TV LP on Lakeshore Music called "Cowboy Saturday Night". It sold an impressive 300,000 copies!  In 1982 he formed hi own label, Stockyard Records, and has released 4 singles.

Jerry  Has done well as a writer over the years, also. His songs have been recorded by Webb Pierce, George Morgan, Lynn Anderson, Jimmy Dean, Charley Pride, and the list goes on and on. George Strait recorded one of his tunes a few years back, "Gone As A Girl Can Get". That was a huge hit for George!

He was also one of the original owners of Billy Bob's Texas from 1981 to 1986 where he was part of the house band.
